Article ID: 126
Last updated: 13 Jul, 2012
The Attix5 SQL plugin connects to SQL via port 1433 and used SQL authentication (typically the 'sa' account). By default port 1433 and SQL authentication is not enabled in SQL Express and needs to be configured.
1. Enable port 1433 (on local host):
  • Open the properties for TCP/IP under SQL Server Configuration Manager – SQL Server Network Configuration - Protocols for SQLEXPRESS
  • Next select the IP Addresses tab.
  • Under the section IPAll, specify the TCP Port 1433 (or specify the port for a specific IP in this window)
  • Apply the changes and restart the SQL service.

2. Use SQL Server Management Studio Express to connect to SQL Express and set the following:

  • Authenticate with SQL server mode.
  • 'sa' account server role is set to sysadmin.
  • set/reset 'sa' account password if required.
