How to prevent ESE Backup Account sizes from going over limit

Article ID: 338

Because exceptionally large data sets can be backed up by the ESE Backup Client, it might be prudent for StorageServer space management to prevent backups that would exceed the limits set on the Storage Platform (on the Group in the SP Console)

Enabling strict size enforcement

Since, the setting is disabled by default, open a web browser to the Storage Platform API with the following link:

https://<StorageServer Name>:<Port>/api/system/settings?CancelBackupOnOverLimit=t

For example: https://LondonStorageServer:8443/api/system/settings?CancelBackupOnOverLimit=true

The Storage Platform will cancel a backup a soon as the Backup Account reaches the limit of Group Storage Limit plus Allowed Storage Overspill (refer to the Storage Platform Console user manual for more information)

Note: The setting is active per StorageServer. Repeat the process for each applicable StorageServer.

Disabling strict size enforcement

Open a web browser to the Storage Platform API with the link above, but replace the last character with "f"

For example: https://LondonStorageServer:8443/api/system/settings?CancelBackupOnOverLimit=false
